Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the most common questions I receive from clients when discussing a project. If you cannot find an answer here, feel free to contact me via contact form or Twitter Direct Message for faster response. Questions will be added as they are presented.

HOW MANY PICTURES WILL WE RECEIVE?
The number of photographs taken depends on many things – the number of guests, hours of coverage, type of event and so forth. My estimate for an 8 hour event with a second shooter would be around 600 images, but this may vary depending on the day itself.

DO MY PHOTOS GET RETOUCHED OR IS THIS AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE?
I perform basic color corrections on images while they are being imported onto the computer, because they are already in the software, and I do this anyway before exporting them into consumer-readable files. There are additional charges for more advanced retouching.

DO I GET THE RAW FILES FROM THE SESSION?
RAW DOES NOT MEAN UNEDITED. If you mean the unedited shots, then yes. You will receive all of the shots from the session. RAW files, you will not receive as they can only be opened by specific computer software for photographers, therefore they are no use to the client. The client will not be able to open the files on any computer or device, without the proper software. As a wise person once said: Asking a photographer for RAW files is like asking a novelist for his unedited manuscript.

DO I OWN COPYRIGHT TO THE PHOTOS?
Yes and No. The client is paying for a service, not a product. By law, copyright remains with the photographer, as the artist. Copyright simply means that I am the creator of the images, thus, copyright is not something that can be sold. The client does however have rights to the images, meaning they can print & share the images as they see fit. This may vary, depending on the type of project. (Details are usually discussed during initial meeting).

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO GET MY PHOTOS?
Depending on the amount of photos or the workload, I usually deliver photos within a 2 or 4 days after the session. But to be on the safe side, I give my clients a 30 day turnaround time frame in which they will receive their photos. There have even been situations where I have delivered within 24 hours. It all depends.

DO YOU ALSO SHOOT VIDEO?
I am sorry to inform that I no longer provide that service but rather outsource it to a business associate who specializes in this area. If you are in need of video services also, this can be arranged with my associate into one single package, so there is no need to hire a separate organization which might cost you more.
